I Voted for Trump--I'll Tell You Why...
Let's get this straight: I'm not a nihilist, but I don't mind chaos. Sometimes you need to burn a thing down to see what it's made of.
I voted for Trump--and not because I believed in him. I knew what he was. I voted for Trump because, after watching the Democratic primaries, it was clear the system was rigged against real change. My vote wasn't an endorsement; it was a Molotov cocktail. And I'll tell you why, as Conservatives are sure to discount my opinions as reckless and counter-productive, not realizing that you would employ the same strategy (and have, by electing Trump) happily, and argue it until the cows came home. Your hypocrisy is out in the open (one thing Trump succeeded in doing--something I expected) now. I feel more comfortable speaking out against you, thanks to that. Anyway, I digress. Why I voted for someone who was barely breaking average when it comes to intellect, and off the charts when it comes to corruption--I knew he wouldn't be able to hide his amateur foibles and major treason alike. But I didn't expect y'all to just roll with it. It's made abundantly clear that religious folks (Christians, I don't know much about the culture of other religions in America) simply use Christianity as a tool to make their lives easier, while attaining that "holier than thou" and "woke" aesthetic. So hot right now...
Okay, so, why?...Remember when Bernie had momentum? When real, grassroots energy was moving through this country? That momentum didn't just vanish--it was kneecapped. John Clyburn, the kingmaker, stepped in and told every viable candidate to sit down so the party could prop up a wax figure with a pulse. Biden wasn't the best option--he was the least threatening to the establishment. And like obedient sheep, the democratic party fell in line.
So no, I didn't choose Trump because I thought he was the answer. I chose him because I knew he'd blow a hole in this dysfunctional system wide enough for Americans to finally see the rot inside.
And it worked.
But here's the part I got wrong: I thought conservatives would care about corruption. I thought they'd balk at an authoritarian power grab, and scream bloody murder at a wannabe dictator openly disrespecting democracy--you know, the way they did about Hillary's emails and Joe Biden's son's laptop. Instead, they gave him the keys and basically asked if he wanted McD's for the ride to the White House
"Christian values," they say. Don't make me laugh. Jesus would've flipped their tables and thrown them out of the temple.
They cheer for a man who sides with Putin every chance he gets, attacks our allies, peddles conspiracies, and would sooner crown himself king than lose an election. And they eat it up--because as long as their team's winning, they don't give a damn who gets trampled.
Democrats betrayed us by playing it safe. Republicans betrayed us by selling their souls. And the American people? They just want someone to punish the "others." They don't want justice--they want the country to themselves.
So if you think Trump is going to save you, save America, or bring about some moral rebirth--congrats. You're part of the reason we've dropped in global intelligence rankings like a rock through a glass floor. Something about soft times creating soft men...
This isn't about red or blue. It's about the fact that no one in power gives two shits about you unless you're a donor, a lobbyist, or a useful idiot, of which we have so, so many. Remember when your mom used to warn you not to believe everything you read or saw on TV, and now she's an avid fan of the Daily Wire? It would be laughable if it wasn't so infuriating. Not that the Daily Wire is evil. But it IS one of the most biased sites that is mainly rage bait for folks who want to feel "better than."
And now, as Trump dangles authoritarian "what-ifs" like he's playing "Operation," seeing which moves "buzz," (in the bad way) and which ones are well received, the so-called defenders of the Constitution sit silent--or worse, excuse their way into praising and apologizing for him for...whatever idea they choose to pull out of thin air. An idea that could just as easily be applied to a democrat--but when it's Trump, suddenly it's God ordained, and God is supposedly using him, flaws and all, to reunite this country in His own mysterious way, beyond human understanding. I used to believe conservative Christians stood for something--values, tradition, a moral compass. But now it's clear: it was never about Christ or the Constitution. It was about power. It was about preserving a system that benefited them, as long as it kept the right people in charge and the wrong ones shut out.
Turns out, all that flag-waving and Bible-thumping wasn't about liberty--it was just fear in costume. Fear of change. Fear of equality. Fear of losing the rigged game they've been winning for generations.
P.S. It sure does appear that God blesses the prideful, the overconfident, the dishonest, and the money changers. America: the land of lawyers, analytics, and image consultants. To Trump, like to Jerry Jones, optics are Everything.
